Revolutionizing Community Health in Rwanda with AI & Digital Innovation
We are thrilled to share that the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), in partnership with Expertise France (L’Initiative), has launched the Empower CHWs project—a groundbreaking AI-powered digital platform set to transform training and support for 58,567 Community Health Workers (CHWs) nationwide.
This initiative will replace outdated in-person training with a dynamic, scalable digital ecosystem, featuring:
✅ Personalized e-learning and certification for CHWs
✅ AI-driven performance monitoring and real-time mentorship
✅ Gender-responsive care tools, matching patients with nearby CHWs of the same gender
✅ Early disease detection and data-driven decision-making
A Defining Moment for Health Equity
As highlighted by Prof. Jeanine Condo, CEO of CIIC-HIN:
“Today’s launch marks more than a project—it’s the dawn of a new era for community health. By centering technology, equity, and empowerment, we’re reshaping service delivery from the ground up. At CIIC-HIN, we’re proud to deploy our AKIISA digital platform to deliver tailored training modules, real-time analytics, and impact evaluations—ensuring every CHW is equipped to provide dignified, high-quality care. This collaboration proves that when innovation meets purpose, we can build a future where health systems are not just stronger, but smarter and more inclusive.”
Why This Matters
By harnessing AI and mobile technology, this project will:
🔹 Cut costs (freeing resources for CHW compensation)
🔹 Close gaps in access and gender equity
🔹 Strengthen Rwanda’s leadership in digital health for Universal Health Coverage
Proud to collaborate with RBC, Expertise France, Society for Family Health Rwanda, WelTel, and all partners driving this vision forward.
