This review article by Okumu et al, lays out key areas that the authors believe can help speed up and sustain the fight against malaria in Africa. They build the African context as one that is challenging due to poverty, existence of lots of other biological threats, as well as resistance to insecticide and drugs. They call for increased multi-sectoral approaches in place of heavy reliance on the use of ‘imperfect commodities, applied imperfectly.’ They also cite data quality as a big challenge as well as capacity for its effective use. This is a helpful article in painting a broad picture of where things should be heading in the fight against malaria.
