BREATHE Project: Building Respiratory support in East Africa Through High flow versus low flow oxygen Evaluation (2022-2025)
Sponsored by Welcome Trust, BREATHE is a multi-site and multi-country evaluation being implemented in Rwanda, Kenya and Malawi. The project is a Type 1 implementation-effectiveness hybrid clinical trial design, with primary aim of determining the effectiveness of clinical interventions and secondary aim of determining the feasibility and utility of intervention strategies. The interventions include both protocolized standard of care Low Flow oxygen with monitoring and titration, and protocolized High Flow Nasal Canula with monitoring and titration for adults with hypoxemia of any cause.
The BREATHE project period is 3 years and the implementation in Rwanda is led by CIIC-HIN.
